A supporting role - specialized adhesives for glulam
In the production of load-bearing timber elements, process reliability and certification requirements must be managed together. The adhesives used must be approved for structural applications while also meeting the specific demands of finger-jointing, laminating and other engineered wood processes.
Bonomo focuses on tailored one-component moisture-curing polyurethane prepolymer systems for glued laminated timber (GLT or glulam), cross-laminated timber (CLT), solid structural timber and I-joist applications. This approach combines stable industrial performance with flexibility for different production scenarios.
These systems support fast, agile production lines when short processing times are required, while longer open assembly time options enable reliable bonding of larger parts and larger batch sizes. Manufacturers can therefore optimize their process according to the desired balance between speed and assembly flexibility.
Polyurethane adhesives are particularly suitable for structural timber production because of their formaldehyde-free chemistry and 100 percent solids content, which enables effective bonding even at low application weights. Their rapid cure at room temperature and their colorless bond line also support the quality of the final product.
The one-component process eliminates mixing, pot-life control and waste caused by unused premixed adhesive. Low foaming behavior reduces cleaning effort, while fiber-reinforced systems can help prevent slippage in finger-jointed components for a safer and more efficient production flow.
