Primers for every surface

Adhesive technology has to meet continuously increasing demands. The range of materials is constantly expanding and now includes products that do not allow adequate adhesion without additional surface treatment. In many cases, the application of a special primer is the most suitable solution and often the only effective method for achieving ideal adhesion on the relevant material. This is a challenge that Jowat SE has successfully mastered for many years.

Primers are important auxiliaries in adhesive bonding and their successful use requires a considerable amount of experience and expertise. The use of a primer significantly increases the bonding capability of a surface, even though this effect is often based on a primer coat only a few micrometers thick.

Primers are generally used when other pretreatments do not achieve the desired success, do not remain effective for a sufficient period of time, or cannot be integrated into an industrial bonding process. Their main function is to increase the adhesion capability between the bonding aid surface and the adhesive.

In many cases, they delay the aging process and therefore increase the durability of the bond. They can also make it much more difficult, or even impossible, for water or other substances to penetrate into the adhesive.
